Introducing Dr. Michael J. Hiatt

Dr. Michael Hiatt

"Why am I a chiropractor?"

“I believe in challenging the conventional wisdom in health care. I believe in the innate potential of our body to heal and maintain itself in a state of wellness and optimal function. I believe that health and wellness considers and respects the physical, chemical, emotional and spiritual elements of our being. I believe in honoring, trusting and respecting the wisdom of your body and your free will to determine the best course of care and treatment for you. I promise to work with you to achieve the results and outcomes you desire.”

“That is why I am a chiropractor.”

I’ve been in practice since 1986 after graduating from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Missouri. Born and raised in Ottawa, I practiced for a year in Louisiana before returning home. Together with Doctors Cheri Jung and Larry Matney we are Ottawa Chiropractic Clinic.

At Ottawa Chiropractic we enjoy working with all types of patients and practice members. We believe in emphasizing wellness and nerve system function to restore, achieve and maintain optimal health.

Dr. Hiatt is married to Denise and they have two children, Blake and Ashea’. Blake is attending college at the University of Missouri at Kansas City and is considering a career in health care. Ashea’ cheerleads, tumbles and plays soccer at Ottawa High School. “While they don’t keep us as busy as they used to, they still keep our schedules pretty full.” Denise is a nurse for the Ottawa School District and works part-time at Children’s Mercy Hospital. If you don’t find Dr. Hiatt at the office, look for him on the golf course.

“Thank you for visiting our website and taking the time to read about our practice. I look forward to meeting you and your family. Come join us on the journey to better health by calling us at (785) 242-4100 or contact us by e-mailing the Doctor icon at the bottom of the page.”

Dr. Cheri Asks some important questions of interest to Ottawa residents - Chiropractor Ottawa Dr. Cheri Asks...

Will chiropractic adjustments make my spine too loose?
No. Only the spinal joints that are fixated and "locked up" receive attention. The occasional spinal joint that moves too much is passed over so weakened muscles and ligaments can strengthen and heal.
What's the difference between maintenance, prevention and wellness?
Maintenance chiropractic care is an attempt to keep a dynamic, ever-changing and adapting organism (you) in a static relationship with your environment. Preventive chiropractic care is mostly about early detection. Wellness chiropractic care is an attempt to optimize our health and be all that you were designed to be.
