Introducing Dr. Michael J. Hiatt

Ottawa Chiropractor, Dr. Michael Hiatt

“It was all I ever wanted to be, from the time of my first adjustment.  It was all I ever wanted to be . . . a chiropractor.”

Why? “Experiencing relief from my symptoms without drugs, without surgery, made a great impression on me.  That’s when I decided to become a chiropractor.”

Dr Hiatt began his pre-chiropractic education at Emporia State University where he studied the basic sciences; “you know the boring stuff”, such as chemistry, biology, physiology, and anatomy.  He remembers his favorite course was in the care and prevention of athletic injuries, an interest that still excites him today.

After completing his pre-chiropractic studies, Dr. Hiatt was accepted into Cleveland Chiropractic College located  in Kansas City, Missouri.  During his time at Cleveland, Dr. Hiatt devoted his energies to the study of specific chiropractic adjusting techniques, anatomy, physiology, x-ray, diagnosis, and patient care.  After graduating, Dr. Hiatt practiced for a year in New Orleans Louisiana.  Returning to Ottawa, Dr. Hiatt joined Dr. Larry Matney and together with Dr. Cheri Jung formed Ottawa Chiropractic Clinic. “Together, we represent over eighty-five years of combined clinical skill and expertise to serve you and your families.”

“We enjoy working with all types of patients and practice members, from infants to adults.  We believe in emphasizing wellness and prevention, and our mission is to promote wellness, prevent illness, and restore optimal function through safe, effective and natural chiropractic care.“

Dr. Hiatt is married to Denise and they have two children, Blake and Ashea’.  Blake attends and plays baseball for William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri. Ashea’ cheerleads, plays basketball and soccer at Ottawa High School.  With a full slate of activities, these two kids still keep their parents busy.  Denise is a nurse for the Ottawa School District and works part-time at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.  “Ask us about your children and we will be glad to brag about how chiropractic has improved their school and sports performances.

“Thank you for visiting our website and taking the time to read about our clinic.  We look forward to meeting you and your family, as you begin the journey to wellness and optimal function.  We believe that wellness is a gift that we all should enjoy, and that the care we provide helps make that a possibility.  Come join us on the journey to better health by calling us at (785) 242-4100 or by contacting us at the e-mail the Doctor icon at the bottom of the page. See you soon!”

Dr. Cheri Asks some important questions of interest to Ottawa residents - Chiropractor Ottawa Dr. Cheri Asks...

How long does it take to form a bone spur?
Many who begin chiropractic care think their problem happened "last week when you bent over funny." But pictures of the spine tell a different story. Chiropractors know it can take your body years to deposit the calcium necessary to form a bone spur. It's your body's response to stress due to gravity or joint malfunction. And chiropractic care can help.
Are aches and pains good or bad?
While aches or pains may be unpleasant, they're merely warning signs. As a Ottawa chiropractor, I see this all the time. The pain is not the problem! It just means a limitation has been reached and something needs to change. That's when we get to work correcting the underlying cause.
